Idasa’s Cape Town Democracy Centre is housed in a beautifully restored historic Sir Herbert Baker building and provides a wonderful and flexible venue for events such as conferences, board meetings, book launches, movie screenings and workshops. The centre’s two magnificent rooms are available for rent.
The smaller room, known as the Beyers Naudé Room, can hosts up to 10 people seated boardroom style and 15 people seated cinema style. The room is equipped with a big flat-screen TV monitor which can be used for data projection from a laptop computer, a Blu-ray Disk/DVD player and DSTV. The room is charged at R1000 for a full day and R500 for a half day.
Our second room, the Dakar Room, boasts flexible seating arrangements and can host 20 people seated around a long boardroom and up to 60 in cinema style. The built-in projector and large screen makes this a perfect venue for tele-conferencing meetings, movie screenings and PowerPoint presentations. A podium seating 5 people is available for panel discussions. The room is equipped with Blu-ray and players, DSTV and tele-conferencing facilities. Microphones, flip charts and a laptop are available on request. The room is charged at R1500 for a full day and R750 for a half day.
