The Public Expenditure and Smallholder Agriculture project of Idasa, aims for a holistic approach towards agriculture, to increase small-scale farmer participation in policymaking processes. The project recognisse that for agricultural value-laden processes to be effective in an African context, small-scale farmers need to be included in monitoring budgets and expenditure on agriculture, as well as networking with regional and international players.
The project works in nine African countries, viz. Malawi, Zambia, Senegal, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Mali, Liberia, Ghana and Uganda. In these different countries Idasa works with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to build capacity and intervention efforts.
