Farming techniques must adapt to mitigate the effects of climate change and ensure global food security, Olivier De Schutter, the UN special rapporteur on the right to food, said in a statement to mark World Food Day. Current farming methods focus on the provision of chemical fertilizers and a greater mechanisation of production. Such efforts are distant from the alleged commitment to fight climate change and to support small-scale farming.
