Experts, mostly from meteorology, are warning that reliance on rain-fed agriculture is no longer sustainable, since climate change has disrupted weather patterns. A recent meteorological conference in Nairobi urged Africa to adopt new farming methods and modern weather forecast techniques to overcome effects of climate change. Locally adapted seeds and breeds and participatory agricultural research that involves smallholders are important to improve crop production. Read more here.
